Gather and translate customer requirements into final product design and leverage the available solutions for multiple initiatives, including managed SSIDs on residential devices. 8. Close working with wifi network vendors and product specialists 9. Manage design, installation, vendor / partner management and commissioning of projects (end to end) 10.Hands on technical lead for clients and colleagues 11. Document, build and execute test plans to qualify vendor solutions. 12.Develop evaluation criteria. scoring and perform integration testing of network elements. 13.Troubleshooting problems identified during testing and drive them to resolution. 14.Working with test and measurement equipment used to test and troubleshoot IP and RF networks 15.Design cutting-edge technology solutions into a usable and marketable service using the knowledge of wifi standards, architecture and evolution. 16.Make decisions and recommendations for technical solutions of the wifi service offering 17.Participate in industry forums and initiatives to represent the interest of CVComms when it relates to wifi network engineering. 18.Carry out extensive evaluations and integration testing of network elements and document resultid 19.Proven track record of leading / deploying projects.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. Degree in related discipline and 5-10 years of experience in related field. 2. Experienced in data communications and networking principles and standards. 3. Experienced in bandwidth capacity management 4. Understanding of project management principles: a) Knowledge of mathematics/physics of data network phenomena relating to network performance: response time, throughput and availability b) Knowledge of wifi 802.11 specifications c) Knowledge of 3GPP, Picocell and Femtocell technologies
Essential Skills / Attributes / Qualifications
1. A good degree (BEng, MEng, Bsc) in Computer Engineering, Big Data, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or similar. 2. Solid understanding of connectivity system options including key trade-offs in their use, including: wireless communications (e.g. BTLE, WIFI, 4G, RFID, NFC, Sigfox, LoRa, etc) 3. Gateway Devices (e.g. Off the shelf hubs, bespoke gateways, fixed infrsrtructure) 4. User devices for connectivities (e.g. Smartphones, Smartwatches, Smart devices) 5. Platform architectures (IoT/M2M platforms, bespoke platforms) 6. Able to demonstrate experience in the design of systems which contain a significant connectivity element 7. 5+ years of experience as a technical engineer in the wireless communications industry in IEEE 802.11 standards. 8. Intermediate knowledge in optical transport systems 9. Fundamental knowledge in all packet based protocols such as TCP/IP (including protocols like DNCP, DNS, TCP, UDP, etc.), switching and routing protocols. 10.Fundamental knowledge in IPv6 and transaction technologies used to manage IPv4 exhaustion and incompatibilities as they relate to assigned projects. 11. Fundamental knowledge in network monitoring systems and device / network management systems, like SNMP, etc. 12.Detailed knowledge of Security protocols and authentication (WISPr, EAPS-TTLS, 802.1x, AAA, RADIUS) 13.Ability to engage and communicate effectively with a broad set of stakeholders including project sponsors and senior representatives from marketing and R&d. 14.Experience managing 3-5 person projects team. 15.Track record showing the ability to design and implement an end to end wireless system core (WLAN Controllers, DHCP, DNS, AAA, RADIUS, Web filtering, Data Retention, etc) 16.Knowledge of LAN switching architecture, design and implementation a) Fundamental understanding of modern router architectures b) Experience and well-rounded telecommunications engineer. Ability to understand physical and data-link layer media properties and implications as they relate to network architecture. c) Experience designing and deploying key WLAN applications including secure mobility, voice over WLAN, location based services, and wireless guest accress d) CCNA/CCNA WIRELESS, CCNP qualified
